Day 22 – Rain On The Way Into New Mexico

It was a late start for us as we were tired from the night before. We set out on our bikes towards Desert View which is still in the Grand Canyon National Park. We stop along the way to get some more pictures. When we get to Desert View we go for another round of photos and climb the watch tower to get an even better view of the area. We also grab a bite at the snack bar since we hadn’t had breakfast yet. Once we were all set we head out of the park and towards Flagstaff so we can get back on 40 towards New Mexico.

On our way down to Flagstaff we catch some rain and take cover at a gas station in town. We spent the next hour at the gas station hanging out and just catching up on whatever we wanted to. As the rain settled I kept checking the weather channel app to see what was in store for us as we moved along 40. It seemed that we were clear and as soon as the rain stopped we got back on our bikes and head back out.

We caught a few more drops of rain on our way out of Arizona but nothing that we couldn’t handle. After about 45 minutes of riding we pass the last cloud and the skies were clear. It was a nice rest of the ride to Gallop, where we settled in for the night. We were pretty tired so we took it down earlier to try and catch up on some sleep. We’re going to try and make it to Amarillo, Texas tomorrow. However, Marco was having some problems with his rear tire now and only time will tell if we can reach our destination.
